Would you like to learn how to communicate science to the public in a way that captures attention, provides a compelling explanation and builds trust? Sašo Dolenc and Zarja Muršič will guide you step by step through the process of responsible and professional science communication.
Join us 14 October 2026 from 9.00 to 12.00 in Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana (CTK) in the conference hall (room 216).
The workshop will consist of two parts:
- Theoretical session (9.00–10.30): You will learn about the key points from the new handbook Science Communication: A Practical Guide for Researchers and Anyone Who Wishes to Foster Curiosity and practical guidelines for drawing up an effective communications plan.
- Break (10.30–10.45)
- Practical session (10.45–12.00): Under the guidance of your mentors, you will independently design a communication plan for your research project and prepare the first drafts of the content for presenting your findings to the wider public.
All workshop participants will receive a free printed copy of the handbook.
The authors of the handbook are Sašo Dolenc and Zarja Muršič. The handbook is intended for researchers at all stages of their careers and for anyone interested in translating complex scientific findings into clear and understandable language. It is an indispensable tool for those encountering science communication for the first time, whilst also serving as a valuable source of inspiration for anyone who is already developing their skills and wishes to explore new communication approaches and channels.
The workshop will take place exclusively in person, and attendance is free. Secure your place on the workshop by completing the application form. We are accepting applications until all places are filled.
The workshop is being held under the auspices of Open libraries in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth as part of Science Month 2026. The event is funded by the Open Science Action Plan for the implementation of ReZrIS Action 6.230.
