{"id":11104,"date":"2025-04-08T13:45:57","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T11:45:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ctk.uni-lj.si\/?p=11104"},"modified":"2025-04-09T10:55:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T08:55:30","slug":"ctk-je-postala-kontaktna-tocka-iniciative-scoap3-za-slovenijo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ctk.uni-lj.si\/en\/ctk-je-postala-kontaktna-tocka-iniciative-scoap3-za-slovenijo\/","title":{"rendered":"CTK becomes the SCOAP3 focal point for Slovenia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CTK becomes the national contact point for the initiative <strong>SCOAP<sup>3<\/sup><\/strong><\/strong> <strong>for open access publishing in the field of particle physics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scoap3.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SCOAP<sup>3<\/sup><\/a> (ang. <em>Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics<\/em>) is a partnership that makes scientific publications in the field of particle physics open access<strong> at no cost to the authors.<\/strong> It is managed by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (<a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CERN<\/a>). Currently in SCOAP<sup>3 <\/sup>more than 3,000 institutions (libraries, universities, research organisations and funders) from 47 countries, regions or territories are involved. Slovenia joined the partnership in 2025 and the national focal point is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctk.uni-lj.si\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Central Technical Library at the University of Ljubljana<\/a> (CTK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Operation of SCOAP<sup>3<\/sup> and funding for publications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CERN manages a common fund to pay for the costs of publishing Open Access (OA) articles. <em>Article Processing Charge<\/em> oz. The final amount contributed to the Fund by the participating institutions is proportional to their total share of publications in the field of particle physics. SCOAP<sup>3 <\/sup>The funds raised are then channelled to publishers to fund open access publications in selected journals. In this way, authors of open access articles do not incur any costs upon publication. The funding for Slovenia is provided by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and paid into the fund by CTK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Benefits for authors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Publication of an open access article in the field of particle physics, published by participating publishers or journals of the SCOAP consortium<sup>3<\/sup>means the following for authors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>instant open access to articles (open licence <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/4.0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CC-BY<\/a>);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>preserving material copyright;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>archiving in <a href=\"https:\/\/repo.scoap3.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SCOAP repository<sup>3<\/sup><\/a> at the time of publication, thus meeting the requirements of the funders;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>publishing without any financial or administrative barriers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Publication support and list of SCOAP journals<sup>3<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CTK provides advice on publishing and selecting journals for open access publication, including in the field of particle physics. On the SCOAP website<sup>3<\/sup> is available <a href=\"https:\/\/scoap3.org\/journals-2025-2027\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">list of journals<\/a>where open access publishing under this model is possible.
