ACS All Publications Package
Journal database of the American Chemical Society, a publisher of the most prestigious scientific publications in the field of chemistry: Organic, inorganic, physical, medical, combinatorial and analytical chemistry, biochemistry, crystallography, materials chemistry and chemical technology. Search AGRIS for professional and scientific literature from all fields of agriculture. It is an international database created with the participation of more than 135 countries (including Slovenia) under the auspices of the FAO. It includes bibliographic data with abstracts from articles, books, reports, etc. from 1975 onwards. The AGROVOC thesaurus is helpful when searching.

Analytical Abstracts
The bibliographic database Analytical Abstracts (Royal Society of Chemistry) is the most important source of information for all areas of analytical chemistry. It contains records from the world scientific and professional literature from 1980 onwards (with abstracts from 1984 onwards), of which about 100 are key titles in this field. Approximately 98% of the contents of the database are records from articles, the rest from other types of sources (monographs, reports, conference material). Advanced search using ready-made indexes allows searching in terms of analytes, matrices and / or analytical methods and techniques. The records contain specific chemical data: CAS registration numbers, substance data, chemical and trade names and synonyms. Selected records can be exported to bibliography editing tools or forwarded by e-mail.

The ASTM COMPASS® portal provides access to full texts of over 13,000 valid standards in the field of materials, products, systems, services, testing, etc., published by the International Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International). Also so called historical standards are, accessible – 2,400 withdrawn standards, and over 9,700 so called “Redline standards” (documents in pdf or html format with marked changes that occurred at the last revision – i.e. display of substantive differences between the currently valid and previous version of the standard).

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals
The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals includes bibliographic data with abstracts from more than 700 American and international professional and scientific journals, as well as from publications of professional associations, catalogs, bulletins in architecture, landscaping, urbanism, interior design and architectural heritage preservation. With more than 13,000 records of deceased famous architects, it is also a valuable source of biographical data. It covers the period from 1934 onwards, some titles from the beginning of publication (e.g. American Architect from 1876). It also contains full texts of articles if permitted by the publisher.

BAUFO (Bauforschungsprojekte)
Search the BAUFO database (former FORS) for important data (holder-researcher or institution, title, period and short description of the project, methodology) on more than 36,000 current or already completed research projects in the fields of spatial planning, urbanism, environmental protection, traffic management, communal and housing economy in Germany. ChemSpider is a database of more than 34 million chemical structures from over 490 sources, built by a team of experts sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Search for chemical compounds by entering text (systematic name, synonym, commercial name, CAS registration number or with SMILES and InChl records of compounds) or the structure of the compound and many additional options in the advanced search.

EBSCO e-Book Academic Collection
EBSCO’s eBook Academic Collection provides an annual access to full texts of more than 180,000 e-books in the fields of humanities, social sciences, medicine, science and technology. For most titles, there are no restrictions on the number of concurrent users. Up to 60 pages of each book can be printed and / or sent by e-mail in PDF format to your e-mail address. Logged-in users (personal account) can also borrow most books on portable devices for different periods of time. To read a borrowed book, an installed free Adobe Digital Editions program is required. This collection also includes about 400 e-book titles from various publishers and various topics, which were purchased for permanent access selected by some UL libraries (CEK EF, CMK MF, CTK, ODKJG FDV, FE and FRI, NUK and PEF). These books can only be accessed by one user at a time.

ICONDA (International construction database)
ICONDA is a continuation of the German RSWB database, which has been translated into English and upgraded. The RBI (Informationszentrum Raum und Bau) supports over 25 organizations from all over the world (Europe, North America and Asia) building a database by entering records of articles from over 1000 journals comprising technical, economic and social aspects of the entire construction industry and regional planning. Each record has a title in the original language and in English translation, as well as an abstract. This database is especially apposite for searching world literature and research results, especially those which have not yet been completed.

IEEE Xplore digital library or The IEEE / IET Electronic Library (IEL) comprises articles from around 500 journal titles, over 19,500 conference proceedings and over 5,600 standards (approx. 1,600 valid, the rest are drafts, invalid, in preparation, etc.) in the fields of computer science and informatics, electronic components and technologies, production technologies and systems, electrical appliances, telecommunications, etc. Contents have been available since 1988, and selected documents even since 1872.

IOPscience Extra provides access to full texts from the non-profit publisher Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing from over 100 scientific and professional journals and some conference proceedings. JSTOR archive collections
JSTOR (Journal Storage) is an archive for searching and reading of full texts of over 1,700 scientific journals (Arts & Sciences Database I, II, III, IV, V, VI and VII and Life Sciences) from various fields such as: Anthropology, archeology, economics and entrepreneurship, philosophy, music, education, linguistics and literature, mathematics, natural sciences, political science, law, sociology, art and art history, history, etc. The emphasis is mainly on older volumes, which are often accessible from the beginning of their publication, and access to more recent volumes is mostly not possible (embargo or delay of access is 2 or more years, on average 4). Also accessible is the entire archive of the second oldest scientific journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society (1665-), in which the first Slovene original contributions of JV Valvasor were published in 1687. Perhaps the most famous article is “Description of the Wonderful Lake of Zirknitz”. ”(Phil. Trans. XVI / No. 191, pp. 414-427).

Comprised of two parts – Materials Science Database and Engineering Database – this is a specialized, interdisciplinary database for the field of materials research: Metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, nanomaterials and biomaterials. Topics include testing, corrosion, injection molding, casting, recycling, finishing, welding and materials design and the introduction of new technologies in the fields of mechanical engineering, construction, seismic engineering, transport and ecology.
It was created by combining of contents of the databases Aluminum Industry Abstracts, Ceramic abstracts / World ceramics abstracts, Corrosion Abstracts, Engineered Materials Abstracts, Materials business file, METADEX and Polymer Library, and includes additionally the Copper Technical Reference Library. It contains bibliographic records with abstracts of articles from more than 4,000 scientific and professional journals, industry periodicals, technical reports, conference proceedings and gray literature. Full texts of articles from more than 2000 journals are accessible. The structure of the records enables an accurate search using controlled dictionaries or thesauri, it is also possible to search for images and tables independently. Content coverage is from 1965 onwards.

Natural Product Updates
Natural Products Updates (Royal Society of Chemistry) is a service for monitoring innovations in the field of chemistry of natural compounds. It covers the most important primary sources in general and organic chemistry, which include the topics of isolation of new natural compounds, biosynthesis, structure determination and biological activity studies. The records contain complete bibliographic data on original articles and the structures of the compounds, and are linked to publisher’s original publication. The service enables searching by topic, source organism, biological activity or type of structure, and content browsing using classification by source organisms, classes of compounds or by biological activity. Users can create personal profiles to save their searches and to set up notifications of new content, save compound structures, and export selected records to bibliographic editing tools.

The package of journals includes access to the full texts of 36 journals of Nature Research and 41 journals of academic and societies’ journals published under the auspices of the Nature Publishing Group. Full texts are accessible for the current year and the past 4 years, some even longer. The contents of the journals cover the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, biochemistry, biotechnology, materials, physics, ecology and other fields of science. PERINORM International is the most important database in the field of standards and technical regulations. PNAS – Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America
Founded back in 1914 to commemorate the half-year of the National Academy of Sciences, PNAS is one of the world’s most cited and comprehensive multidisciplinary scientific journals, annually publishing more than 3,300 research papers covering the biological, physical and social sciences. In addition, it publishes scientific news, commentaries, perspectives, colloquia, podcasts, and profiles of NAS members.
PNAS is a subscription journal, but the entire contents are freely accessible after six months. Developing countries have free access to PNAS.

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDT Global)
PQDT Global is the world’s most comprehensive database of doctoral and master’s theses. It contains bibliographic data on almost 4 million final works since 1637, with an annual increase of about 70,000 records in collaboration with 700 leading educational institutions in the world. Full texts of over one million final works since 1997 (in the format in which they contribute participating educational institutions) are accessible. Over 2.1 million titles can be purchased in print. Each dissertation added after 1980 contains a 350-word-long abstract by the author. The master’s thesis, published after 1988, contain a 150-word abstract. Where allowed, PQDT Global provides a 24-page long preview of the paper.

ScienceDirect
A database of e-journals from one of the world’s most important publishers in the fields of technology, science, medicine and other sciences. In 2020, users of the University of Ljubljana have access to journal titles from Freedom Database, which contains the majority of Science Direct journals (excluding journals of certain societies from some scientific publishers, especially in the field of medicine, which do not permit access to ScienceDirect users) – over 2,400 journal titles and about 700 open access journals. Subscribed journals are accessible from 1995 onwards or four years prior to first year of subscription. Non-subscribed journals titles are generally accessible for the last 5 years (last 4 years and the current year).

SciFinder
SciFinder combines the search in several databases built by the Chemical Abstracts Service: The abstract bulletin Chemical Abstracts or CA Plus database, the CAS Registry databases (list of CAS registration numbers of organic and inorganic substances, protein and nucleotide sequences), the MARPAT database (Markush structures from patents from 1988 on), CASREACT (information on single and multi-stage chemical reactions), CHEMLIST (data on registered or dangerous substances from the most important world regulations since 1979) and the database on commercially available chemicals CHEMCATS.
It provides bibliographic data with article abstracts from more than 10,000 journals from 180 countries since 1907 (completed by even older records from the 19th century), as well as data on dissertations, conference materials, technical publications and books. An added value to the database represent over 4 million patent records granted by 63 patent offices, with abstracts in English. Selected patents of the world’s 9 most important patent offices are indexed no later than 2 days after the grant of the patent. The contents cover the fields of chemistry and chemical technology, biotechnology, pharmacy, medicine, metallurgy and materials, geology, food technology, agronomy, ecology, physics of matter, etc. SciFinder also allows searching the entire MEDLINE database from 1951 on, including data from the OLDMEDLINE database (1958-1966) and IN-PRESS records. SCOPUS
Scopus is a multidisciplinary bibliographic database with a citation index, built by the largest publisher of international scientific literature, Elsevier B.V. Scopus covers the contents of approx. 39,000 journal titles (of which 24,500 are current, about 4,000 are open access) from over 5,000 publishers and contains more than 75 million bibliographic records (68 million with references for the period after 1970 and 6 million for the period between 1788-1970).
Some journals are only partially indexed in Scopus. Scopus also contains papers from 740 series of scientific monographs, 194,000 books, and over 9 million papers from conference proceedings. Also 25.2 million patents from five patent offices (US Patent & Trademark Office, European Patent Office, Japan Patent Office, World Intellectual Property Organization and UK Intellectual Property Office) can be searched.
Basic and advanced search, search for authors and references, several ways to limit the number or analysis of search results and sorting of search documents are possible. Further features are linking from the bibliographic record to full texts of documents, export of search results to bibliographic editing tools (Mendeley, RefWorks and EndNote), news notification settings (via email, RSS or HTML feed). It also provides various tools for the analysis of author citations (h-index) or documents, impact of journals (alternative indicators SNIP and SJR) as well as the evaluation or analysis at the level of institutions. Springer Link
The SpringerLink service includes access to approximately 2,500 scientific and professional journals from various publishers under the umbrella of Springer Nature Group. Also included are approx. 50 journal titles from Palgrave Macmillan. They cover various professional fields: Biomedicine, natural and technical sciences, business sciences and economics, humanities, psychology, sociology, law, etc. Journal articles in full text are usually accessible from 1997 on or less, if the journals was released later. Full texts of over 30,000 books (view and review by chapter), which are part of the Complete English Language / International Database Copy Right Years 2005-2012, are also accessible on the SpringerLink portal.

Springer Protocols
This database combines descriptions of methods that have been published in the well-known book series “Methods in ……” by Humana Press for the last 30 years, and methods from various laboratory handbooks, e.g. The Biomethods Handbook, The Proteomics Handbook and Springer Laboratory Manuals. It contains over 18,000 full-texts with detailed descriptions of workflows of tested and reliable analytical methods in the natural and biomedical sciences: Biochemistry, biotechnology, cell biology, bioinformatics, genetics, immunology, radiology, microbiology, molecular medicine, neurology, cancer research, pharmacology botany, etc.
Comprehensive and clearly structured descriptions allow an easy use and a quick transfer of the method to your own laboratory. An important feature are the user’s notes, from which it is derivable, for what purposes the methods were used by other researchers, and what their experiences are. A newer version of the portal is available at Springer Nature Experiments, where full texts of “Springer Protocols” for the period 1988-2011 are accessible.

Synthetic Reaction Updates
Synthetic Reaction Updates (Royal Society of Chemistry) is a service for monitoring novelties in the field of organic synthesis (combines the former databases of Methods and Organic Synthesis in Catalysts & Catalysed Reactions). It covers the most important primary sources from general and organic chemistry and provides information on the most interesting, innovative and relevant new reactions. Each record contains complete bibliographic information about the original article, the entire reaction scheme, and a link to the original publication by the publisher. The service enables searching by topic and type of reaction or content browsing using the classification by type of reaction, saving structures and exporting selected records to bibliographic editing tools. Users can create personal profiles to store their searches and to set up notifications on new contents.

The Technology Database combines access to bibliographic data with abstracts from more than 8,800 titles of scientific and professional journals, newspapers, technical reports, conference proceedings, government documents, gray literature, etc. since 1962, and access to full-texts from over 5,500 journal titles.

TEMA Technology and Management
TEMA contains bibliographic records with abstracts, keywords or descriptors from international and German scientific and professional literature (journals, conference proceedings, reports, dissertations, etc.) in the field of technology and management. It contains information on development and research, innovation, new products, equipment and processes in the fields of mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and electronics, information technology, energy, materials, textile technology, medical equipment, mining, management and organization.
It covers the time period from 1968 on. The bibliographic part of the records is mainly in German, and the abstracts are in German and / or English. When searching, it is possible to use English or German terms, terms from the controlled list of descriptors “Thesaurus Engineering and management” and codes from the WTI classification. THEME contains several sub-databases with a narrower range of topics, which can also be searched independently (selection on the entry page): DOMA® (mechanical engineering), ZDE (electrical engineering, electronics and energy), WEMA Materials® (materials), BEFO (management and organization), TOGA® (textile technology), MEDITEC (medical engineering), BERG (mining) and ENTEC (energy). The TecFinder portal also includes the TEMotive database (electric mobility).

Web of Science
The Web of Science Core Database service provides access to the three most important multidisciplinary bibliographic databases with citation indexes: Science Citation Index Expanded® (SCI-EXPANDED), Social Sciences Citation Index® (SSCI) and Arts & Humanities Citation Index® (A & HCI).
They include data from more than 10,000 of the world’s most prestigious and influential scientific journals for the period since 1900. In addition to these most important ones, also other databases with citation indexes are accessible within the Core Database: Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science (CPCI-S), Conference Proceedings Citation Index- Social Science & Humanities (CPCI-SSH), Book Citation Index– Science (BKCI-S), Book Citation Index– Social Sciences & Humanities (BKCI-SSH), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) and two databases with index citations for chemistry: Current Chemical Reactions (CCR-EXPANDED) and Index Chemicus (IC).
The service also provides access to other databases:
- BIOSIS Citation index – a database with a citation index for life sciences, biomedicine;
- Current Contents Connect – complete indexes and bibliographic data of the world’s leading scientific and professional journals, books and relevant websites and documents;
- Data Citation Index – a database with a citation index, which includes research data, arrays and studies from international data repositories;
- Derwent Innovations Index – information on patents from the Derwent World Patent Index database, extended with citations from the Patents Citation Index;
- KCI – Korean Journal Database – Korean Journal Database – an interdisciplinary bibliographic database of scientific journals from South Korea managed by the National Research Foundation of Korea;;
- MEDLINE ® – the leading bibliographic database for the field of medicine, built by the U.S. National Library of Medicine®;
- Russian Science Citation Index – a bibliographic database of citations of articles by Russian researchers from more than 500 scientific journals in the fields of science, technology, medicine and education, built by eLIBRARY.RU;
- ScIELO Citation Index – access to the contents of leading open academic journals in the fields of science, social sciences, arts and humanities from Latin America, Portugal, Spain and South Africa;
- Zoological Record® – access to the world’s oldest and leading reference taxonomic database in the field of animal biology.

Wiley Online Library
In 2020, the University of Ljubljana has access to just over 700 titles of Wiley-Blackwell journals: Subscribed titles at faculties of the UL and an additional set of titles, i.e. Custom Database, which was selected based on usage statistics and the wishes of all consortium member institutions. Full-texts of articles are mostly accessible from 1996 on, or less if the journals were released or subscribed later. Non-subscribed journals in the Wiley Online Library package are available for a limited period of time – until the end of 2013.
