Invitation: 3rd national event of the KNOW project

You are cordially invited to 3rd national event of the project "KNOW - Support for the implementation of open science principles in Slovenia", which will take place Thursday, 9 October 2025, from 10.00 to 16.00 at the Rudolf - Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto and online (Zoom).

Project GET TO KNOWco-financed by Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and European Union - NextGenerationEU, linking Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana and 20 Slovenian public research organisations implementing the principles of open science in line with national legislation and European Research Area practices. After two years, the project has already produced tangible results: a number of training sessions on open science practices and sharing research according to FAIR principles have been held, two expert handbooks have been published and the first comprehensive training for data professionals in Slovenia is ongoing.

This year's national meeting will focus on research safety (research security) and the challenge of preserving academic freedom in a time of uncertainty and rapidly changing geopolitical circumstances, and enabling universities and research organisations to continue to play their vital role in society. The focus will be on striking a balance between openness and protection of sensitive knowledge, data and technologies, while also linking with business and industry, where knowledge security is becoming increasingly important.

 This year's guests will be:

  • Dr Nana Šumrada Slavnič, Rudolfovo,
  • Prof. Dr. Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor,
  • Dr Tim Grebe, Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, Germany,
