The Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana, as a higher education library, provides information and library services in the fields of engineering and natural sciences to students and employees of the University of Ljubljana in support of undergraduate and postgraduate studies of students and the teaching and research work of higher education professionals.
To a lesser extent, it also offers some services to students and professionals from other colleges and universities, and to employees of profit and non-profit organisations. The library's services are based on professionalism, quality, user-friendliness and modern technology.
Through links with other libraries, library networks and information systems, it provides its users with access to information and materials from all over the world (CTK's Mission Statement was adopted at the Library Council meeting on 27 May 2004).
CTK is an innovative higher education library that makes its own and international materials and information resources available, especially in the fields of engineering and natural sciences.
It adapts to the changing needs of users arising from changes in scholarly communication and changes in education. In the long term, to support the educational and research work of the university and research institutions, the library provides easier, faster and broader pathways to knowledge, in particular through its transformation into a digital library. It is aligned with the University of Ljubljana in terms of work and organisation, and is linked to its member libraries and other libraries or related organisations.
It therefore ensures that library and information work is properly professionalised, adequately staffed and equipped with modern technology. It keeps abreast of developments in the library and information sector and adopts new developments, identifies the needs and wishes of users and continuously evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of its work.
Through creativity in finding new solutions and orientations, it aims to develop a modern cooperative library information system. It is striving to acquire purpose-built premises (vision adopted in the Development Plan of the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana for the period 2009-2013 at the 7th meeting of the CTK Council on 19 February 2009).
