Description of the Public Service's field of workAs a public service:

  • Supporting the study and research process by carrying out library activities mainly for students, higher education teachers and higher education staff, and by carrying out consortium purchasing of electronic information resources for higher education, research and other organisations in the Republic of Slovenia and managing the consortia,

  • systematically collecting, processing, preserving and disseminating library materials (books, journals, theses, dissertations, research papers, standards, patents, databases) in print and electronic form,

  • providing access to library materials and electronic information resources,

  • Producing library catalogues, databases and other information resources,

  • providing and disseminating information in the technical and scientific fields

  • user acquisition, training and information literacy,

  • participation in information literacy programmes in higher education institutions,

  • organising seminars and professional development for librarians, students and other users,

  • interlibrary loans and document distribution,

  • other library, documentation and information work.


In addition to the public service:

  • carry out research and development work in the field of library and information science,

  • provide other information services

  • stocks, publishes, prints and sells books and other publications in its field of activity,

  • organise consultations,

  • photocopying and other forms of reproduction,

  • provides services to interested parties in the context of its activities.

3. Description of how to access public information

Description of access
  • Public information in electronic form is freely accessible online via this catalogue (http://www.ctk.uni-lj.si/osnovni-podatki/katalog-informacij-javnega-znacaja/) in html, pdf and, exceptionally, MS Word formats. Access requires an internet browser and readers for pdf or MS Word format.
  • Access to public information in non-electronic form is available at the Institute's secretariat from Ms Barbara Jazbar on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 8.00 and 12.00.
  • Access to public information for people with disabilities is also available online in text-only format.
  • Partial access to public information is granted in accordance with Article 19 of the Regulation on the provision and re-use of public information (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia 24/16 and 146/22).

4. Cost sheet

The Uniform Schedule of Charges (Charges for material costs for the provision of public information) is laid down in Articles 16, 17 and 18. Regulation on the provision and re-use of public information (Official Journal of the RS, No 24/16, 146/22). The Uniform Costing Manual applies from 8 May 2016.
