On 1 October 2026, Tilen Mandelj officially took up the post of Director of the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana (CTK): »The knowledge we have at the CTK must be available to everyone who needs it, from research institutes to school classrooms.«
Tilen Mandelj has been appointed Director of the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana (CTK). Having received the approval of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, he took up the post of Director on 1 October 2026 for a five-year term of office.
Tilen Mandelj, who is taking the helm of one of the country’s key scientific infrastructures, comes from within the organisation itself: at CTK, he has been developing digital and user services, and for the past nine months he has been leading the public institution as acting director during a challenging period following the sudden death of his predecessor, Miro Pušnik. His message is clear: CTK remains one of the key infrastructure facilities within the Slovenian research landscape.
The new director sees running the library primarily as a responsibility: »The CTK does not need a director who wants to prove himself. It needs a director who knows how to develop the institution. I shall therefore carry out my work calmly, professionally and decisively.«
