Information services

The Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana is not only a classical library, but also an information centre for scientific and professional information, providing information in the fields of engineering and natural sciences from its own and purchased databases, as well as other electronic and classical information sources.

The CTK's information activities are aimed at the widest possible range of users and help them to find expert and scientific information.

Information specialists (experts in civil engineering, architecture, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and chemistry) provide the following information services to users:

  • thematic queries and analyses from different information sources,
  • periodic thematic enquiries (SDIs),
  • Information advice (using the results of information queries to solve professional problems, setting up professional informatics activities, participating in the Ask a Librarian service),
  • Information products (glossaries, manuals on how to use specialised information sources, etc.),
  • building the ICONDA international database,
  • training users to find, evaluate and use specialised information resources,
  • compiling bibliographies of researchers,
  • PATLIB Centre of the European Patent Office (patent and intellectual property information queries).

The working hours of the information specialists are between 8:00 and 15:00, when you can also talk to them via videoconference. In the afternoon, you can leave an order for subject inquiries and other information services at the lending desk.

You can order thematic enquiries by sending an email to info-center@ctk.uni-lj.si.
