University of Ljubljana Central Technical Library participates in the Community Science project from March 2020 COVID.SI. As part of this project, we are now proud to join the campaign to 3D print earmuffs, also known as wuhobrani.
It is a thin strap at the back of the head that holds the elastics of the face mask in place of the ears.
The Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences, the RTV Slovenia web portal and the Delo newspaper house have declared the word "wuhobran" to be the neologism of 2020.
As they say:"...It is a product that is donated by volunteers to health staff and must not be resold. It ensures that the straps of the mask do not burn the ears when used for a long time. As it is spelled with a double w, it has an additional meaning as it can be associated with the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the pandemic is said to have started..."
