Data Experts Support Group brings together the persons responsible for the handling of research data at their home institutions. They can work as data archivists, data librarians, data managers, data consultants and related profiles. The group was created under Work Package 4: Developing and delivering specialist training in open science principles, sub-working group 4.4: Establishing a team of support experts/coordinators to support staff at the level of the final beneficiaries and beyond in training and implementing Open Science activities. The Support Group is coordinated by the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana (CTK).
The purpose of support groups is to offer data professionals mutual assistance in resolving dilemmas on the principles of open science and, more specifically, on the handling of research data. This assistance may include peer support in the form of advice and consultation, the organisation of training sessions, the building of a list of frequently asked questions and answers, and the building of a list of useful information resources.
Aim support groups are set up an informal nationwide network of data professionalsto share useful information and best practices on open science and the handling of research data. It will take into account existing infrastructures and initiatives in the field of open science and bring them together in a single entry point.

The Support Group meets once a month, as follows every first Friday of the month at 11:00 on the ZOOM link provided by CTK. If this date falls on a public holiday, the meeting will be rescheduled at a later date by agreement. The group will resume its meetings in September this year, on 5 September 2025 at 11:00.
A channel is used for communication between group members outside meetings. 1TP5Supporting-group on the Slack project workspace (https://noo-spoznaj.slack.com). The Slack platform will continue to operate beyond the end of the MEET project.
