The KNOW consortium will work package 4: Developing and delivering specialist training in open science principles, sub-working group 4.3: Training of data administrators conduct training again this autumn and in January 2026 for people who will be acting as Data Stewards or related profiles of data professionals (e.g. Data Archivists, Data Librarians, Data Managers and Data Advisors) at their home organisations. This will be the second such training for data professionals in scientific research in Slovenia, which was modelled on similar training courses abroad (e.g. Data Steward Postgraduate Course at the University of Vienna, 4TU Essentials 4 Data Support, EOSC Synergy Data Steward Training The training will be delivered by staff from the consortium partners and selected experts from institutions outside the consortium.
The training will be divided into Theoretical part (first and second strands) and practical part (workshops). Workshops are scheduled separately for science and technology and humanities and social sciences, and participation in both sets of workshops will be possible. The training will last for a total of 16 days, 6 school hours each, on the following dates:
- 13. 10.-17. 10. 2025 (first common theoretical strand + optional day on science and technology)
- 3. 11.-7. 11. 2025 (second common theoretical strand + optional day on social sciences and humanities)
- 14. 1.-16. 1. 2026 (first part of the workshops, dedicated to the social sciences and humanities)
- 21. 1.-23. 1. 2026 (second part of the workshops on science and technology)
Due to space constraints, live participation will only be possible for employees of the consortium partners, while all other interested parties will be able to participate remotely, where there is no limit to the number of participants. It will also be possible to follow only individual lectures remotely. The live training will take place at the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana, 3 Republic Square, 1000 Ljubljana.
Attendance at both joint theoretical sessions, one of the optional days and one of the workshop sessions is required to obtain a certificate of attendance (in person or online) to the extent of Minimum 80 % (a minimum of 58 out of the mandatory 72 school hours). Of course, it is possible to attend the full training course, totalling 96 hours. The programme is not accredited.
