As part of efforts to implement the principles of open science and improve access to the results of publicly funded research, a survey was carried out in the research community on Questionnaire on the use of the right of secondary publication in practice (hereafter: the questionnaire). The purpose of the questionnaire was to examine the level of knowledge and understanding of copyright, with a particular focus on the retention of copyright and the exercise of the right of secondary publication. The questionnaire was published on various websites and distributed to researchers and support professionals in research organisations by e-mail.

The findings of this research are intended to contribute to the further development of open science policies in Slovenia and to a more effective transfer of knowledge into the wider social environment.
The questionnaire and the results of the analysis were prepared by the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana (CTK) and the University Library of Maribor (UM UKM) in the framework of the Action Plan for Open Science for the implementation of Action 6.2 of ReZrIS30.
