Colder days are just the thing for a warm scarf. Join us for a crochet workshop, where you’ll make your own scarf featuring an interesting star-shaped pattern.
The workshop is aimed at CTK members. No prior knowledge is required, so even complete beginners are welcome.

In the CTK meeting room. We’ll meet at the circulation desks.
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
- Yarn in the chosen colour and thickness.
- A crochet hook of the appropriate size. The recommended size is indicated on the yarn label next to the crochet hook or knitting needle symbol.
- A love of creativity and craftwork.
How do you choose yarn?
Choose a soft yarn that feels pleasant against the skin. Before buying it, hold it against the inside of your wrist or your neck and check whether it feels scratchy. Thicker yarn will generally mean the work progresses more quickly, but it shouldn’t be too thick, otherwise the scarf will be too stiff and tight.
The amount of yarn required depends on the yarn you choose, the pattern, and the desired length and width of the scarf. During the workshop, we can make a 10 × 10 cm test swatch to estimate how much yarn you will need. When making your purchase, check whether the chosen yarn will also be available should you need to buy more.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You’ll learn the basics of crochet, how to make the star pattern and how to finish off the scarf, so that you can carry on with your project at home.
